Gripp
Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
The short version: Gripp sends nothing anywhere. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reports, no cloud copy. Everything it knows - your transactions, your receipts, your screen time - lives on this phone and is deleted with the app.
ON THIS PHONE ONLY
- Bank and e-wallet transactions, read from notifications.
- Scanned receipts and their photos.
- Utility bills. Name cards. Screen time per app. Your settings.
- Records you scan, such as medical certificates and reports.
- Uninstalling deletes all of it, unless you made a backup file with Back up everything in Settings.
WHAT GRIPP ASKS FOR
- Notifications - this is how transactions are captured.
- Usage access - which apps held your attention, and for how long.
- Installed apps - so you can pick which ones carry your money.
- Camera and photos - only when you scan something.
- Microphone - only while you speak a question to Ask.
- It never reads SMS, and never will.
WHAT LEAVES THE PHONE
- Nothing, unless you send it.
- Export and Back up everything hand a file to Android. You choose where it goes.
- Tapping an e-invoice link on your own receipt opens that shop's page.
- Call, WhatsApp or Email hands the number to that app.
- Each of those is you sending something, in the moment you asked.
THE ONE EXCEPTION
- Receipts are read on this phone.
- Paste an Anthropic key in Settings and the receipt TEXT is sent to Anthropic to be tidied up.
- Your photos are never sent, with or without a key.
- The scan screen says so each time. No key ships in the app.
- With a key, a question in Ask also sends your receipts' text.
- It sends the payments your bank announced to shops, too.
- And app names and minutes, your bills, and name cards.
- From a name card: the name, company and title only.
- Never a phone number, an email, an address, or the name of a person you paid or who paid you.
- The Ask bubble names what is sent while it is sent.
- Your records are sent only if you switch on "Let Ask read my records" in Settings. It is off unless you switch it on.
- With a key, "Explain this record" sends that one record's printed text when you tap it.
- It puts the printed words into plain language and gives no advice. The photo stays on your phone.
VOICE, IF YOU SWITCH IT ON
- The microphone in Ask listens on this phone. Your voice stays here.
- Some languages have no on-phone listener. Gripp then asks, once, whether to let Google hear you instead.
- If you say yes, your voice goes to Google's servers and the words come back.
- Gripp keeps none of it, and the box says "Listening through Google" every time it happens.
- It is off unless you switch it on, and Settings switches it off again.
NEVER
- No data is sold, to anyone, for any purpose.
- No advertising. No tracking. No analytics. No crash reporting.
- No account, no sign-in, no server, no cloud copy.
- No location. Gripp never asks for it and cannot read it.
CHILDREN
- Gripp is a tool for adults. It is not aimed at children.
CHANGES
- If any of this changes, this page will say so before it does.
